OHSU BSN, Fall 2021

Published

Hi, first post because I cannot find that much information about this!
Apps recently opened to OHSU's BSN program. I haven't decided if I want to apply to Ashland or Monmouth - I am currently in California (don't hate me Oregonians) but most of my family live close to those two campuses.

Anyone else start their application for OHSU yet?

Also - Any tips for essay question responses? I have a 3.9 GPA in the prereqs and overall, finished all prereqs, and have 4000+ hours of healthcare experience as a medical assistant, but I feel like I still might screw it up if I flub those responses.

I applied to ashland and I haven’t heard anything

I received my interview invitation this morning (Ashland). Good luck to you!

Also received my interview invitation today. I'm pretty torn because I got denied from the Ashland ABSN program and accepted into Johns Hopkins MSN program. It's hard for me to turn down an accelerated masters in nursing for a 3-year BSN program, but I love Ashland and I've wanted to spend significant time in Oregon for a while (I'm from the east coast and my partner grew up in Ashland).

I also know how much people want to go to OHSU so I'm really sorry if this is coming across as insensitive. I hope everyone is doing well in their own process and some good news is coming your way whether from OHSU or elsewhere.

congratulations! I didn't receive an invite, guess we’ll try again next year. I did apply to RCC so I will just wait to see if I have a chance there.

You still might!! OHSU is so competitive, I reached interview last year (1st time applying to nursing school) and wasn’t accepted. Interview was extremely tough. It was the only place I applied last year, so I too, applied to RCC this time around. I want to stay local to save money on housing. Good luck to you on everything else! If you don’t mind me asking, did you do all your prerequisites locally? Are you working as a CNA?

Congratulations on the accbac/ MSN acceptance! Yeah three years to just get the bachelors is pretty disappointing at that point then. I also didn't get into the ABSN program, oh well! If you 100% want to pursue an MSN then I'd go for that one! I'm hoping if I get into the three year program I can work while I go to school, which you probably wouldn't be able to do in an ABSN. Personally I'd rather do a DNP program, so it just depends on where you want to end up eventually I think ?

Anyone hear back from monmouth ?

Nope I haven’t heard back from Monmouth yet :( I was hoping we’d hear back today! Good luck to everyone that’s been offered invites to interview at Portland and Ashland :)

FYI: I received my invite to interview this evening from Monmouth. Good luck to everyone.

I just received an email for an interview at Monmouth! Good luck everybody!
