So I'm a lurker...I have a login ID but rarely posted. However, I always go on this site to hear words of encouragement (from ppl who post needing it and I read their replies) and its somehow helped me get through this dreaded exam.
Three days before, I was literally...going crazy. My palms wouldn't stop sweating, I got nauseated doing my Kaplan exams, I couldn't sleep, etc. Can you imagine the day of?! I scheduled mine at 2pm but that just gave me the morning to panic even more and even throw up right before I left my house. So for the last couple of days, I prayed like no one has ever prayed before. I went on this site to calm myself down. I threw up again. :chair:
Strangely enough, on my way to Pearson testing center, I was calm....very calm. Took my test and zoomed through it (uhh...I thought I failed 'cause I was being given easy questions with the same diseases), finished in an hour and left the center. As I roamed around the parking lot, I took out my phone, checked the Pearson Vue trick and got the GOOD pop-up. I practically bawled in the parking lot.
Two days later, my name was up on the BRN! And yes, I threw up again. :sstrs:
Anyway, just wanted to thank everyone here who replied to other people needing encouragement and words of wisdom. You guys don't know how helpful it is to us lurkers as well.
If anyone's curious, I took the Kaplan course for a month, then the second month I studied the Kaplan book, did the QBank and QTs, read the Priority book by LaCharity. Just those. Nothing else. My husband told me to avoid using other materials 'cause it'll confuse me even more, and he was damn right. I know some people are not fans of Kaplan because they're mostly strategies, but I found it VERY helpful because it condenses so many of the things we need to learn into chapters that are easy to access. The Therapeutic Procedures chapter saved my life....I had 6 questions on nursing procedures I had to order from start to finish! What the heck, right?!
So there ya go! That's my lil story and I'm proud to be among the rest of you nurses AND future nurses!
P.S. I stopped at 75 questions, had 5 audio questions, 6 "place in order", 5 SATA (thank GOD!), and the rest were typical multiple choice questions. =P

Congratulations! You are officially an RN! I want to encourage us all to post our successes:), I think the lurkers(myself included) need to see people posting about passing along with the folks who post about failing. It gets discouraging and scary to see post after post about people failing...
:yeah:
