Offers for NICU and Inpatient rehabilitation

Published

NICU: 38 beds ( includes feeder/growers), patient ratio depends on acuity of neonates,2 RT on the floor, night shift.

IRU: 18 bed, max patient ratio 6:1, night shift patient are required to participate in three hours of physical therapy in order to be accepted onto the unit.

Pay is the same for both jobs. All new grads across-the-board make the same.

My question is your advice on these positions? I really enjoy both fields of studying I am passionate about children and rehabilitation. My goal is to work somewhere that does work in rehabilitation for children. These units just separate my interests therefore I am pulled in two different directions. I need help and advice. My understanding NICU is a very difficult unit to get into and IRU HAS PERKS AS WELL. on both floors nurses have been there 10+ years into retirement or they have left due to moving out of state.
