Hi guys,
I am graduating in December and I have been offered 2 GN positions. One is with Baylor in Dallas and one is with Seton in Austin. I am so stuck on what to do. I know Seton pays less but their residency for critical care is 22 weeks versus 10 week at Baylor. I kinda feel like 10 weeks is not very long to transition from student to critical care in such a big hospital with that level of acuity. Baylor pays well and has great benefits. Seton seems to really embrace their new grads and invest in them.
Can anyone give me some input? I'm not from Texas so neither one of them are home to me. Thanks so much!!!

I accepted a critical care position at Baylor Dallas for the September cohort. I am still in my residency, but should be on my own in about 4 weeks. I've heard great things about Seton. I have a friend who works there and she loves it! Baylor is great as well. Between class time and being on the unit, you will become more comfortable and confident with patient care. I don't think you will ever "feel" ready to transition from student to an actual nurse, but you will be. Whichever facility you decide, the staff will be very supportive and you will never feel like you're in it alone.
Thank you Tx_icuRN!!
I have decided that Baylor is the best option for me. Your input helped a lot. I was worried about the 10 weeks but I have come to the conclusion that I will get out of it what I put into it. So I am just going to dig deep and work hard to get the most out of it. I appreciate your advice!!
