Hey,
I am also confirmed for the October ODS class. I'm active duty with orders to Naval Medical Center San Diego.

Awesome! I know there are two separate classes with one being active duty and the other being reserves. I'm sure we will cross paths. I currently don't have a billet yet, unable to use JO Apply until after ODS. There seems to be a general thought in my drill unit that I'll be dropped into one. Possible an EMF since the focus is building down range units. Im credentialed ED/Trauma.
Well two days away from heading to Newport for ODS! See y'all in 5 weeks! Anyone else going to be there besides Bnwrn and myself?

Hello everyone! I went to ods in aug2018 and i am currently stationed at naval hospital guantanamo bay as an emergency room nurse. Things to remember for ODS... relax.... ur an officer day one... you cant fail unless you do something absolutely insane... for those without enlisted service... do not address the chiefs as sir... Do both of these things and you will be fine! Have fun!
Hello everyone,
This is what I had posted in an earlier thread for those going to ODS...
If anyone is going to ODS soon and finds this thread I just graduated ODS in September and I am assuming some of you will be going soon. A few things to make your experience less painful and stressful.. First.. when you get there you will have class officers.. probably lieutenants or lieutenant commanders... refer to them as sir or ma'am... you will also have class chiefs who you will see more than your officers.. refer to them as chief or senior chief or master chief and never EVER as sir or ma'am unless you really want them to get to know you on a personal level or you have a weird infatuation with doing pushups.... Secondly... disregard that list you find on the website about things you can bring and things not to bring... I mean bring whatever that list says but you can definitely bring basically anything you want as long as it can fit and stay in your warlocker when you aren't around... that includes food electronics.. whatever.. just make sure your locker is locked and u'll be fine.. be prepared to march around wherever you go and show up in shape... you will be running and exercising.. it was way easier on the people in shape then not in shape... don't draw attention to yourself.. go with the flow.. you'll be fine. anyone worrying about swimming or "failing" the class.. don't. some people showed up not knowing how to swim.. basically jumped off the platform and sunk to the bottom and they ended up passing the test. There is a test that they basically give you the answers to before the test so don't worry about that either. You meet great people, you endure 5 weeks of king hall with your roommate and other people that you may end up close to and overall its your first step into something pretty amazing and for most of us something we've been striving towards for a long frustrating period of time. Congrats to everyone of you that is about to start your time in king hall!!!!! dont forget to bend those knees a little when standing at attention!!! and ps.. when you walk into king hall for the first time.. right to your left is a set of flags... just turn toward your left and look at them for a couple seconds and then walk in... (saluting the ensign) don't actually salute until you are in uniform... Good luck and have fun!!!
Amazing. Thank you!!
