how do you cope with all the odors in pt care? that seems to be the only thing that really grosses me out--eewww--gagging just thinking about it. i really have to get over this--but how?
I carry around a product called OdorScreen. They come in little packets that fit in my pocket. It has the same texure as Vicks but it doesn't burn your mucous membranes, and smells like vanilla. It supposedly "numbs" your olfactory recepors.I've heard Vicks can damage your olfactory receptors which is why I tried OdorScreen. I have used the product once so far when a nasty odor was seeping its way around the ED to the nurses arena. I whipped out this stuff, put it under my nose, and the smell disappeared. Another RN and a CNA asked me "what's that?", and I shared the rest of the packet with them. I think we were the only three people in the nurses arena who weren't gagging or pinching their nose.
Where did you buy it????
