OCC Nursing Acceptance Procedure

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Hello All:

So I recently finished my prerequisites for the Nursing Program at Oakland CC and passed the HESI. I am going to attend the Nursing Info Meeting ASAP and applying by Dec 15 of this year... However! I am curious to know the procedure of getting in. Once I submit my application in December when will I get my letter of acceptance or rejection? When will I have to submit my drug test, background check, and immunization???

Please help,

FutureRNFields:)

Hey! =) I applied to the nursing program this semester as well. They changed the procedure to where they have a point system to see where you rank/how many points you have (this is based on what your grade is in each class, how many times you repeated it, and how many courses you took at OCC) I believe this form is available on the OCC Nursing website.. you can also go over it with a counselor. Letters of acceptance are sent out in March, and if you get in, that's when you have to submit the drug test etc, not before then. Most people register for Pharmacology during the summer when they get their acceptance so they can get that class out of the way because otherwise it gets difficult to manage it in the fall with other stuff.

I hope I answered your questions.. good luck!! Hope we both get in!=)

I also applied to the program and received my acceptance letter! I was chosen for the "Winter Semester start" but will be starting with Pharmacology in the Fall 2015!

Did you guys receive your letters yet? :)

You don't need to do drug test and criminal screen until you receive your acceptance letter I recalled.

Anyway, good luck. Please let me know if you do have any questions about school or any class work.

Cheers,

2015 OCC nursing graduate
