the course is accepted by nearly all nursing programs. everybody loves the fact that they can get the whole thing out of the way in late spring and have the summer off.
you can contact the registration and records office at 732 255-0304. you need to make sure that you tell them you are from out-of-state.

Hey Jersey Nursing Girl,
I am taking this Microbiology Online course at Ocean County College now and love it! The instructor really focuses on the microorganisms we will see everyday in nursing and really makes it interesting.
I highly recommend taking this course in the Summer First Five Week semester for any student who wants the big part of the summer free. It starts in May and ends by late June. July and August are free to enjoy the Summer!
It will require that you put in the time during May and June to do the labs and stay on top of the course. I am a single Mom and I love the freedom that this online course gives me.
It really works for me. Sign up quick before it closes.

jersey nursing girl,
i am waiting to get into ocean county college's one day per week nursing program.
i have both a&p i and ii out of the way and i would like to take microbiology online this summer. do you think i can handle the course during the first five weeks (may through june). do you think squeezing the labs into 5 weeks would work? i have heard really good things about the class.
my kids are off in late june and this would leave me almost the entire summer to be with them. it would really save on day care.
thanks

Gourley Gal,
I think you can do it in five weeks!
I would recommend doubling up on the labs. I have seen students knock off three labs in a weekend so I do not think it would be that difficult.
Be prepared to pay cash on the barrel when you register at for the Microbiology Online Course at Ocean County College. I would recommend ordering the LabPaq and the book a bit ahead of time. Getting it out of the way now and having the whole summer off sounds like a motivation to make it happen!
The nice thing that I found with the online course is that you can work, take care of the kids and get the course out of the way. I am really enjoying the course.
Do not delay. There are only 8 seats left in the May 18th to June 23rd class (Summer First Five Week).
Thanks
Jersey Nursing Girl,
Ask in your class if anyone will sell their microscope after it ends? I am signing up for the Summer First Five Week microbiology online class at Ocean County College.
This was a great tip!
There are bulletin boards both in the Ocean County College Hiering Science Building and the Nursing Building where you can post a note for a microscope. You absolutely need one with the oil immersion lens because that is the only way you get to see the bacteria. There are so many students taking A&P I and II and Microbiology Online that I think you will get a hit almost immediately. I always see them listed on eBay as well. However, the microscope only goes for around $150 new from Hands-on Labs, Inc. If you buy it from them, you can always return it if you have a problem. I had a bad mechanical stage and they replaced it right away.
Here is the website for the Microbiology Online Course at OCC:
http://www.ocean.edu/academics/programs_of_study/science/MicrobiologyOnline.htm
It has all the links to exactly what you need for the course.
If anyone out there has a microscope for sale, please help Gourley Gal out.
