OB Nursing How Can I Get Into This Area

Hello,

I have 1 year of experience in Women's Surgical Oncology. I have known since I was a child that I wanted to be a "Baby Nurse".:redpinkhe I have had peers that have entered for an example MIU right out of school without having passed boards. I apply for the area after I passed boards ( I didn't want the pressure of accepting any nursing position without having my license) and I was told that I didnt have experience. Now that I have a year of experience I have been told that its a very hard area to get into to. Or there isnt any turn over. I just don't understand why it seems like I have to accept positions for areas that I really don't desire to work in. Any suggestions from those who are in OB would be greatly appreciated. I just had my baby 9 months ago and I know that I could do what nurses did for me while recovering. My friend said the same thing about me. She said all she could think of while she was in the hospital after having her baby in January is "I can see you doing this".
