Oakton Community College - NLN and admissions

U.S.A. Illinois

I'm applying for the Spring 2011 term and I was wondering if anyone out there is also applying or applied last semester and had info about how difficult it is to get in. Judging from the website, it seems like all they really care about is your results on the NLN pre-entrance exam. Is this the case?

Also, if anyone is currently enrolled in the nursing program I was wondering how rigorous it is compared with other classes you've taken at Oakton?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ashley

It was on Mon, Tues, and Wed the week before classes. I also asked somebody who started for fall 2010 and they also had it on Mon-Wed, the week before classes.

Thanks for all the info you've given us! It's been really really helpful :) I can't wait to see if I get in!!! We should know in about 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE LET TIME FLY!!!!!!!!!

Well guys by this time next week, we might know!!!

Good luck! I'm pretty sure you're in. You have a pretty high score.

Thanks for the confidence, I appreciate it. I have bitten off all my nails and am talking to anyone who will listen to me about how letters might be coming out this week :\

I have already been taking pre-reqs for a year and a half, and that's on top of a previous BA degree! I just want to get started! ARGH!!!

First week and so stressed about all the reading. What to study for first lecture quiz. They are now 20 questions. Is it important to do the workbook or the reading? Someone said the workbook is just for our benefit.

I would focus on the powerpoints and skim the reading.

Thanks. The reading is a lot along with the workbook.

The info in 103 is pretty much common sense. I don't think anyone ever fails 103. 104 is the class to worry about more. Do you have to do the community project for 103? When I took the class each group received 100% on the project so those were basically free points, though I will admit that all the presentations were hilarious and took a lot of work.

Yes we have to do the community project. First clinical day tomorrow. Assuming we get past the first semester, how do we get our next clinical site. Do we get to choose for 105, 106?

All the clinical sites are done by lottery.

I guess that's the only fair way but I would like to avoid certain teachers if I can. Are Gas' tests difficult or does she use the review questions from the book?
