nwi lpn wage

Published

I hopefully am about to begin an lpn course and wanted to know what is the average starting wage for a lpn who just graduated. stats i read say 18 dollars and hour, and i wanted to know if that is accurate. i live in NWI, and i think nurses make less here anyway. i love the nursing field having been a cna and didnt know whether to choose lpn or surgical technologist, i liked both and was going to pick which ever made more. just want to make sure its worth it. help!

Hi, I was looking at doing LPN or Surgical Tech. too. The research I did said that on a national average LPNs make more then Sur. Tech. but in our area that Sur. Tech.s were actually making 1-2 dollars more an hour. Also I called around to some of the hospitals in my area (Elkhart-South Bend) and they are no longer hiring LPNs in the hospitals but are hiring Surgical Technicians. Hope that helps. Good Luck!!

LPN or Surg Tech.......Surgtech do make more $$$$but there is no advancement....and thats all u will ever do...LPN's do have more varieties of job types...RN's even more.....u dont have to be a surg tech to work in surgery or the recovery room..Im an LPN (hopefully took nclex 2-7) and i can work in ltc, hospitals in my area (i live in knox), home heath, school nurse etc......much more opportunites...I do have a friend in in school for surg tech....she loves it...surg tech are right there assisting the doc and the nurses are the "gophers".....If surgery is your true love do if for that not just the $$$$$...Loving what u do is what really matters,,....I'd rather make$15 and love my job that make $20 and hate it...Good luck to u:specs:
