NVCC ELI Nutrition class

I'm just curious to talk with anyone who took the online nutrition class at NOVA for their nursing pre-reqs. I'm looking to find out how work intensive the class is and if I'll be able to handle taking the last 8 week session this summer which will overlap a few weeks with finishing the 8 week A&P II class I'll be taking.

Because I am working full time and can only take the tests on Saturdays without taking time off work I actually finished A&P I (also 8 week format) a week early. The first week of A&P I was also pretty much wasted with fluff and going over the syllabus and if I jump straight in (assuming A&P II is formatted the same as A&P I just the second half of the book) I could finish A&P II in 6 weeks. That would result in only the first week of nutrition overlapping with the end of A&P II.

I found A&P I pretty intensive on the work load, though that work all helps in learning the material so I don't mind. I just don't want to overload myself with the overlap. I haven't been able to find anything that really goes over what all is required for the nutrition class. Just some reading and tests, maybe a little discussion forum bit? Or some involved workload?

Thanks to anyone with some feedback. I'd prefer to get nutrition completed and out of the way and just have Micro left in the fall so I can finish my classes before applications are due in January. Along with free time to study for the HESI and get my essay and video in order. But I don't want to jeopardize my good grades by taking on too much with my work schedule either.

I took the 8-week ELI Nutrition class with Debora Polisky during the fall semester and would definitely recommend it! Her expectations are very straight forward, usually a couple HW assignments each week and you can always look ahead on the syllabus to do assignments early if you want. Assignments were usually either posting something brief on the forum or filling out some worksheets. There were no essays or anything like that. There is also a big project towards the end of the semester where you basically analyze your own diet but it is not difficult, just takes a bit of time. I spent a couple hours a week reading the chapters, making a study guide, and reading the professor's notes and felt prepared for the exams. As long as you put in the work it is a very easy A!

The class was super interesting but the professor is not great about communication (think she lives in a different time zone) so that would be my only complaint. Let me know if you need any more information!

Thank you for the response. Assuming most sessions of the class are basically the same that doesn't sound too bad. I probably won't make the decision until the last minute to take it at the end of the summer or in the Fall. Seems pretty standard, reading, a few easy homework assignments, and a project at the end of class.

Was the project detailed analysis of you're diet over a period of time like strict calorie, protein, fat, etc logging or just more general I have steak tacos with rice and black beans for lunch today? Just curious there haha.

No problem. It is a detailed analysis of your diet but you only have to track your eating for three consecutive days! Good luck with whichever you decide!

Oh yeah, how many tests did you have in the 8 week class?

Thanks. Okay that should work fine with a small overlap of A&P II. Still probably sign up at the last minute but sounds very manageable. Thanks for your help.
