I am a certified yoga teacher and right now a nursing student.
My question is for the experienced nurses in practice.
How many times you have observed Yoga practice being used for patient teaching ?
Is there any scope?
What is the general attitude?
Is there a positive response from physicians?
I'm planning to do a cerification in Holistic nursing after my RN.
I realy need o know what is the practice currently.
Thanks
Healing Hand.

Hi,
As you can see by my screen name, I also practice yoga. It has been a life changer for me--flexibility, strength, relaxation and ability to handle stress. I use it in my anesthesia practice as much as I can. It is amazing how relaxed a pre-op patient can become with some breathing exercises. In the post-op phase, yoga type breathing helps with pain management.
A lot of my plastic surgery patients do yoga, so there is mutual encouragment.
