Nursing #10 Worst Science Job....

...according to November's Popular Science issue. And the #1 worst job is held by an NP (she's an anal wart researcher). The votes were submitted by people within the field, so obviously there are a lot of dissatisfied nurses out there (as if we didn't know that).

All the reasons are those we're familiar with: MD abuse, low pay, not enough staff, high nurse to pt ratios, stress, hours/shifts, lack of advancement.

Glad to hear that these issues are being recognized publically, and that nursing is considered a "science job" rather than something in the hospitality/service field. The article cited a UPenn study that showed hospitals with the worst nurse staffing ratios cause pts to have a 31% greater chance of dying. Go Pop Sci!
