Nursing *VP* can someone explain what VP stands for?

I searched a lot but failed to find anything regarding this "VP". However the job boards and resumes are full with this term.

VP= vice president.

like the VP of the united states.

usually in a hospital the second in command under the CEO./ COO

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

In our hospital the Vice President of Nursing is the highest position of all in nursing. She is in charge of all the Directors of Nursing, and the Nurse Managers, and of course of worker bees. She's has a Master's Degree.

It's another highly paid suit that oversees the entire nursing service dept. Used to be there was a DON (director of nursing) who had this duty. Now they've created a corporate position to oversee the DON. HMMM...no wonder we're broke.
