I’m from Vietnam and I would recommend against becoming a nurse in Vietnam. In Vietnam, the social perception that nurses are inferior to doctors still persists, so you would face discrimination there pretty often. Also, there’s no regulatory board of nursing in Vietnam, so I wouldn’t feel safe practicing there. Nurses in Vietnam don’t have the autonomy that nurses in the US do, so your practice and critical thinking skills might be limited and not of use. You can try joining medical/nursing mission trips in Vietnam to have a feel for the field, but again, I would advise against it.

Hi all,
I am looking for information about the nursing profession in Vietnam. I'm an RN but have only worked in the United States. If you have any knowledge about working in a nursing related profession (LPN, LVN, RN or Care Aide) I'd love to hear about your experience!
Thanks!
