nursing unit secretary interview

Published

Specializes in NICU.

I'm a second year nursing student in a 4 year BSN program and I've been looking for a medical related job for over two years. My lack of experience has definitely held me back, but tomorrow I have an interview for a nursing unit secretary position at a major hospital (with magnet status! ahh). A friend of mine showed me the posting on the student work website, so I knew it would be perfect - per diem, flexible, 8-16 hours/wk, basically exactly what I've been looking for with school.

Now, I have ZERO experience in the hospital and limited clerical experience, and I also haven't had an interview in many years so I am VERY nervous! The HR woman I will be interviewing with has been so helpful through email and I was so happy that she thought of me when there was an opening in the next training session, but I'm still not sure what to expect. Anyone interviewed for a position like this before? What kind of things did they ask?

Thanks so much!
