Nursing Undergrad or accelerated nursing program?

Published

I recently peaked interest in doing nursing as I visited my boyfriend's mom at the hospital. I saw what nurses do first-hand and I talked to some people in nursing. However, I missed the deadline to apply to nursing at my school as you cannot just switch into the program. I will have to apply in October 2019 for September 2020 and restart the undergrad which is four years. Should I do this or finish my undergrad and do an accelerated nursing program which would be 2 years after. They're both the same time but the accelerated nursing programs are really competitive and have a lot of pre reqs that I would have to start.

It doesn't make sense to continue to spend money finishing a degree for the purpose of applying to an ABSN program.

The pre-reqs and nursing classes are the same for a traditional BSN and the ABSN. The only difference is that the ABSN program gives you credit for the general education from your first degree. Since you have already completed some of the general education, it will take you less than 4 yrs for the BSN.
