Hi,

I have a question about traveling nurses. Are background checks done and is liscensure checked? What happens if a traveler gets fired? Do they get paid anyhow and just move on?

flora how is your studies? how old r u? i applied to start nursing school september, can u tell me what i'm getting myself into please?

Travel nurses are required to have a license to practice in the state that they are working in.

Background checks are done by the agency, as well as the BON for that state before your license is issued. There are also background checks done by the facilities in most cases.

If you get fired from a position while still under contract, you do not get paid for the remainder of the contract. You will actually need to reimburse your agency for any of the housing expenses that they paid out for you for the rest of the contract in most cases. And you will be responsible for your own flight home, the agency will not cover it..........that is if you were flown to your assignment. And you are only given a day or so to be out of the housing.
