Hello! I need to interview an RN for a school assignment.

The Questions Are:

1. Your type of career or field.

2. What are the major duties or responsibilities?

3. What type of Educational program did you complete?

4. What type of courses and experiences do you recommend high school students complete to help them be successful in this field?

5. What personal qualities does a person need in order to be successful in this career?

6. If you were choosing a career field at this point, would you have chosen this career? Why or why not?

7. What do you like the most about your job?

8. What do you like the least about your job?

If someone would take a few minutes and answer these questions and email the answers to I would really apperciate it.

Thanks,

1. Your type of career or field. Med surg nursing in a trauma unit in a not for profit hospital

2. What are the major duties or responsibilities? Assessing patients, monitoring their condition, colloaborating with MDs in plan of care and caring out their orders which might include medications, dressing changes, activity, etc, and continually assessing outcomes, discharge planning, precepting new grads and students

3. What type of Educational program did you complete? I have an Associates Degree RN and am currently in an RN to BSN program of which I hope to finish by this time next year. I hold certification in Med-Surg Nursing. I have continually expanded my horizons through continuing education in a wide variety of topics

4. What type of courses and experiences do you recommend high school students complete to help them be successful in this field? Basic college prep courses, to include biology, algerbra and chemistry

5. What personal qualities does a person need in order to be successful in this career? I think empathy and compassion are the big ones. Being able to put yourself in the patient's situation and truly care about where they are coming from is the mark of a good nurse

6. If you were choosing a career field at this point, would you have chosen this career? Why or why not? I would definately still choose nursing. I like the variety. As I continue my education I hope to expand into new and exciting areas of nursing such as education

7. What do you like the most about your job? The patients and making a difference in their lives either big or small.

8. What do you like the least about your job? I am very unhappy with the RN to patient ratio where I work. Some days it's 7:1 and that is not good for the patient. On those days I leave feeling dejected and empty because I wasn't able to give the patients all they deserve

Good luck to you. PM me if you have further questions.
