Hi Everyone,
I currently am living in Michigan and the wait lists for our nursing programs are horrible! I am hoping to either get into an RN or LPN program perhaps in the Toledo area so that it is not too much of a drive for me. Are there any suggestions that you all could give me in regards to schools to look into? I have looked into Mercy College and do plan to apply there as well. Thanks!!

You have Professional Skills Institute, and Stautzenberger College in Toledo. I attend Professional Skills Institute and I love it. I live in MI not far from the Metro Airport and it takes me about 45-50 minutes to get to school depending on traffic. I think Owens Community College still has a nursing program also.
I have never heard of Professional Skills Institute can you give me some further information on them? What type of requirements do they have? do they accept financial aid? How often are the classes? I live in Redford so the drive may be a little further for me but I have decided at this point I am willing to give it a try. I also work full time but would probably have to decrease my hours at some point. Is the program work friendly for the students that have jobs? Sorry I am asking so many questions I just want to get as much information as I can thanks!
Their website address is proskills.com. As far as if it is worker friendly it really depends on hard your job is and if your job is willing to work with your school schedule. It is a very demanding program 8am-about 4:30pm most days. You have to have titers done a background check and take a TEAS test. You can give them a call at (419)720-2260.
I looked them up and called yesterday. They set me up to come and take a tour and attend an information session next week but I may have to cancel because I already had another appointment for that day. I was looking into the evening program so that I am still able to work which is 18months and runs Mon-Thurs from 5-10. I worry about that drive though in the winter months with our weather. I map quested it from my house and its about 1 hour and 15 minutes

In my opinon MsAshley, you should stick with Mercy College. You know that program is legit and you will get the best education as well they offer the evenings and weekends program. The last I heard from a toledo resident who was at my orientation at Mercy is that Owens no longer has their accrediation. There are alot of Michigan residents who travel back and forth to Mercy (myself being one) maybe you can carpool with someone who lives close to you... Hope that helps.

Has anyone out there attended the University of Toledo's BSN program? If so could you give any feedback or input of your experiences?
