Nursing Schools

Published

Hi Everyone!

I have been looking at nursing schools in the Orlando area. Herzing University. I like the idea of the program that puts you straight through but I see it also has some downfalls. I did my research on Herzing and saw it has some really bad reviews on their nursing programs. I was thinking about giving it a try. I would really like to get in and get out. I figure everyone has a different experience. I wanted to know if it is anyone in this group that attended or is attending this school? What was it like? How to employers look at schools like these?

I also looked into Valencia College. I know that is the best route it will just take some time.

Any advice will be great.

I don't know the Orlando area but I was curious so I did some looking and in five minutes I can see there is no comparison between Herzing and Valencia. Herzing is a for-profit school that will cost you a fortune and isn't ranked well as a nursing program, and Valencia is a public state school that has solid rankings and an established nursing program.

Herzing's NCLEX pass rate is awful, low 80's, lower than the national average for those taking the licensing exam. Valencia's pass rate is stellar, in the high 90's, clearly above the national average.

I don't know what you mean by liking the idea of a program that puts you straight through, I don't know what that is, but if you want to graduate with a degree that means something and a reasonable chance of passing the nclex you should be avoiding for-profit degree mills and seeking out schools with great stats.

Okay thanks, I definitely want a degree that means something!
