Nursing School Vaccinations

Published

I am starting LPN classes in July and was wondering what other schools require for vaccinations. At the school I am attending we have to have a TB test, Hep B, MMR, either proof of childhood disease or vaccination records and if you don't have those you have to have the vaccinations. What about your school?

Im starting LPN July as well in OK and my school requires the same thing may I suggest going to your last high school to get your shot records, as far as proof of chicken pox good luck with that lol I dont even know where to begin to look for those records lol.. and I had my Hep B done at the local health department so easy to get the records there. GL in school and in finding the records. :balloons: :Melody:

As luck would have it, I have all my vaccination records going back to birth(thanks Mom!) and I am getting my vaccinations at the local health department(they normally charge $50 a vaccination, but if you are in healthcare or a healthcare student the price is only $15 a vaccination). Also, I used to work in veterinary medicine so I have had rabies and anthrax vaccinations as well, hopefully I don't need any more vaccines for a while.

Our required the same thing - although Hep B was not required, only highly suggested. You had to sign off if you did not want the Hep B series. Luckily my mom kept a good baby book with each date AND I was re-vaccinated in the Navy, so no problems with that. If you didn't have proof, then it was either re-vaccination or titres.

Most schools (and hospitals) require Hepatitis B x 3 or proof of a positive titer, Tetorifice, MMR x 2 or proof of a positive titer, varicella or proof of a positive titer OR history of disease, and a current PPD (TB skin test). I do alot of Nursing school & med school, & college physicals and that's what is required. :)
