Hello,
I'm curious, does anyone out there know if there are any diseases that can prevent you from attending Nursing School? For example Hepatitis B?

I don't think that a person can be kept out of nursing school for a disease but they will scrutinize that persons use of universal precautions. It would be considered discrimination if a person were prevented from pursuing their dream. You would probable want to discuss it with the head of the department in the nursing school to get a better answer.

In my school, hep b isn't a factor, but you have to tell the program supervisor. The only thing that can keep you out is a drug/alcohol problem or a mental health problem.

I wouldnt think that any diseases could keep you from working or an education, As one poster said it would be dicrimination. But they would probably want you to be extra careful and you may have to deal with some prejudice. You should be careful of people telling your business that you dont want told things like that. Go for your dreams though

I think if you have a disease that prevents you from lifting or being able to carry out nursing tasks you may not be accepted. I don't think Hep B is one of them.
Of course something active and contagious like TB would keep you out; you'd need proof you're not contagious and on meds etc. But mainly I think they only keep you out if you have lifting restrictions etc.
