in nursing school had a stroke

i am in nursing school, had a stroke 4 weeks ago in my right aca and mca. i can walk now my main concern is that i lost my left arm. i am wondering if anybody else has stories of other disabled nursing students that may help sway my dean to let me finish wit accomodations... i have 2 semesters left..

    Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about it, but glad you are making progress recovering. If you don't mind my asking, how old are you? I'm a couple of weeks away from 55 and issues like that scare the crap out of me.

    I really don't know to tell you to convince the school to let you finish, except that your contract with the school is for them to teach you to be a nurse and you to pay for the privilege. They don't have to hire you afterwards. And speaking of hiring, I am sure that there are jobs where a physical limitation would not stop you from functioning. Its not like they will slot somebody else in after all, you are too far along. Hang tough and don't take no for an answer. Also may behoove you to find out what your rights are as a newly disabled person are. Good Luck.

    I have a friend who lost 90% use of his left hand, in semester 2. He received a dispensation to repeat clinicals, after he healed. So, if your grades and performance are good, it should fall under the ADA (i.e., they can't deny you the opportunity to attempt performance with reasonable accomodation).

    What is PT telling you about your arm? Do you have any sensation, gross motor...?
