Hello! I was wondering if anyone happens to know of LPN schools in the Las Cruces area. We are planning to move there this spring and I want to enroll as soon as possible. Also, does anyone happen to know of any nursing homes there that pay CNA's anything over $6.00 per hour or is this the norm in New Mexico? Thanks a lot.

Only 2 Nursing schools in Las Cruces. Neither offer an LPN or LVN.
Dona Ana Branch Community college (ADN):

New Mexico State University (BSN):

Good Luck! I live here and love it.

mingez, i too am growing to like the Las Cruces area. It's only been a month or so since I took on my job as D.O.N. for a home health. Along with putting my professional nursing skills to work, I also manage LVN's, CNA's, and soon other nurses. I am currently working on staffing the agency with the right RN's, LVN's, and CNA's, do you know where i can go to find these people? I have contacted both dabcc, and nmsu for help as well and postings.

I am in Las Cruces, I have heard if you go through the RN program at Dona Ana, you can opt to take the PN NCLEX. I am ready to leave Las Cruces. I am doing Pediatric Home Health, have no benefits, no PTO, etc. I love what I do as I have elementary school age children. I am considering taking 2 classes this Spring through NMSU or Dona Ana. Don't know if I can ever get into the RN program.
Opting to challenge the PN Nclex while in an RN program is available anywhere. Just an fyi.
Hello Mumpet5, thanks for your reply. Are you a LVN or LPN?

I am just about ready to apply to the RN program, but I'd much rather get my LPN and start working in the field--plus, I'm not sure how much longer we will be living in the area. Someone had mentioned challenging the PN NCLEX...where would I go to do something like this? ...I was told that I had to be enrolled in a school that offered the LPN in order to test for the LPN there. Any insight is much appreciated!
