which nursing school to go into

I have some friends at W. Patterson and from what they say it sounds like a great place. Why not go there? And trust me when I say this: DO NOT GO TO RUTGERS!!!!!! I went there for 2 yrs b/f beginning the nursing program at a community college (which is great) and hated it! Don't know anything about seton hall, but look into W.P. some more. It seems they have a great program up there.

That's strange, I've heard that Rutgers has an excellent nursing program....from tons of people...namely the student. I'm currently attending Essex County College as a pre-nursing major. I won't know of my acceptance/denial until June 15th. I have been accepted to Trinitas/Union County College nursing program. If I'm not accepted at ECC, I will attend Trinitas. You should see if the schools that you are interested in will have open houses.

I would go to Seton Hall if I were you - if you plan on becoming a CRNA, Seton Hall is the only one of those schools that is NLNAC accredited. You usually need to attend a NLNAC school if you want to pursue further education (like getting your masters or Ph.D.).

An accelerated program means the program is compressed into a shorter amount of time - so this also seems to fit your criteria of wanting to finish faster. Seton Hall probably has the typical coursework/timeframe of an accelerated student on their website. You probably will take more credits per semester and have school over the summer but if you want to get done more quickly, its worth it.

Although I did not attend rutgers nursing school (just "open college or liberal arts") i have heard that the actual program is moderate to good. But thats the last junior and senior years of school that you will be with other nursing students/learning about nursing. The freshman and sophmore years are quite difficult. My chem 101 class had literally 400 people in lecture and 40+ in lab. My dorm was DISGUSTING had no cable (not that thats all that important but you know) connection, small rooms,gross bathrooms,etc. I could not have a car EVER (some colleges just don't let you have one your freshman year) so how could I get to work? (I had to park in the Sears parking lot .5miles away) and got a s**tload of tickets. I believe that you only have clinical for one year (senior) whereas my cc and william patterson have it for 2 years and I have heard not such good things about some professors in the nursing courses. Now like I said, I did not attend the nursing part of RU, this is what I HEARD, but I can tell you that I would not recomend that anyone go there just becuase the living facilities, lack of academic support, difficult registration,etc. The one thing I did like was that it's in a true college town and if you didn't have homework you could go out on a tuesday night and have just as much fun as if it were saturday... and the restaurants deliever food until 3am sometimes! But otherwise, I hated rutgers! (p.s. I left with a 3.0gpa, so I guessing if I applied I may have gotten into the nursing program...but I'd rather go to my awesome community college where every teacher actually cares about you/knows your name even BEFORE you start the nursing program.) So I'd recomend Seton Hall or William Patterson. Sorry about the rant! It's JMHO.
