Nursing School conflict of interest

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Does anyone have experience working for a hospital network while attending GCU ABSN or BSN? Did the school ever tell you it was a conflict of interest working for a certain hospital network while in the nursing program? Did you have to sign something that said you had to quit or cannot work for certain hospital networks while in the program? Just got told that I have to quit the network I work for if I were to be accepted into the program. I know what I have to do, but it just seemed odd knowing many other nursing student working in healthcare in some other capacity. Sad that I have to quit. I am in a non-clinical setting.

I know of schools who will not place employees of a hospitals/hospital systems where they work, into a clinical at the same place.  This is usually remedied by placing the nursing student at a different location, that is not part of that hospitals network.

Perhaps what you have run into is that the school may not have other locations to place their students for their rotations?  That might be the issue here, but the only way to know would be to check with the school itself.. It seems they have already told you that you cannot work at that particular place, but maybe if you contact the school directly and ask if they have other locations available, they might be able to work with you. It doesn't hurt to ask
