How difficult is it to get into a nursing program at a community college in Virginia? (NOVA, specifically). I will be finished with ALL my nursing pre-reqs by end of next semester, so I am planning to apply for the nursing program for Fall 2008. Currently, my GPA is a 3.6 (this includes the following classes: Medical Terminology, Dev. Psych, Sociology, Nutrition, a computer course, and Nurse Aide I).

Hi -
I know you said you were interested in No Va -- but if you'd consider Richmond -- J Sargeant Reynolds Comm College has just changed their application process. They no longer work off of a waiting list and are now accepting applications for Spring 2008! You have your pre-reqs done and a strong GPA so you shouldn't have a problem getting in. Good luck!

As of this year, it was quite easy to get in. I finished my prereqs in May and still got in for the fall 2007. As of May, I was told that there were spots available and they hoped not to turn anyone away. So I can't say whether they did have to turn anyone away or not.
I do know that they changed the application process, it was first come, first served, and now it will be competitive. But you have a good GPA so it sounds like you won't have any trouble.
I did notice you didn't mention NAS 161 and 162 - you know you can't get in without those (they're tough, too!)
Good luck!

THank you! I will be done with ALL my pre-reqs by next semester...also, are you speaking of nova?
Oh sorry - yes, I meant nova!
Good luck, I'm sure you won't have any problem!
