If I could offer another suggestion from personal experience. I was an EMT before attending nursing school (St Mary's--now closed). Other EMS colleagues who had attended nursing school had warned me not to tell anyone that I was an EMT. I didn't listen, and I wish that I had.

AMEN TO THAT!! I was an EMT for years before getting into my nursing program. In my first year I was nearly put on clinical warning and was told that I might be the best EMT out there, but I would do well to remember that I was a first year nursing student. Period. My EMS experience was irrelevant. I learned that the hard way. I would strongly advise keeping a low profile: no acting smart - and keep it humble. Thank anyone who corrects you. The ones who do this are the ones who survive.
