Nursing and restraining

Part of the inpatient mental health nurse's job in New Zealand is to restrain patients when needed (In the hospital I work in is quite a uncommon event). For those of you reading this post, is this role part of your job or do you have a security firm that is based within your hospital that handles patient restraint? Or any other options that I cannot think of.

Would love to hear from you regards

we have a secruity team at our hospital that assists the RN's. They are really fast and know how to assist very well.

as charge RN, we are in control of need for restraints....

we call a code and several men come immediately to our aide...

as they are restraining the pt, I am calling doc for orders to direct med nurse to medicate....if this does not work, then we get orders to put in restraints....very rare that we use the restraints, usually the meds do the job..........
