nursing rates in Pensacola area

Published

Hello all.

I'm coming to visit family in the Pensacola area and would really appreciate any information regarding hospitals and best way to go as far as pay.

Perhaps it is better to go per diem with a local agency or is a travel contract better? I live in Ohio.

I've talked to several agencies and I'm getting a headache!

Thanks so much for any info.

what agencies did you contact? i am interested...i know you got a headache from talking to them, however i am looking to move to P'cola in June '09 and i am afraid that i will be taking a paycut working in the hospitals..any help would be appreciated :)

Things may have changed in the past couple of years but when I lived in Pensacola, the area hospitals had more than enough nurses to choose from locally. Agency was pretty much unheard of. It was such a wonderful place to live though so I guess people were willing to take staff positions and not make as much money. I know I would probably lose at least $7-$8 an hour if we moved back there. But the cost of living is definitely cheaper so I guess it all balances out.

Oh and FYI, Sacred Heart paid the most back in 2004. I suspect that hasn't changed. Also, you could look into the Pensacola Naval Hospital and VA Clinic. They would definitely pay more but take more work to get into the system. Good luck and I must say, I'm a bit jealous. I miss Pensacola!

i appreciate your response to this post. no one but sacred heart has contacted me about anything...i guess i just need to apply for a job and then maybe someone will talk LOL.

its just a little scary...i will have to start repaying all of my student loans back starting next summer, and if i take a paycut, then i might not be able to afford the move :(

i really want to be closer to my fam, but i guess worse case scenario, i could get a nursing job and work PT somewhere to pay for the loans...i guess i will just have to see :)

Thanks again!!!
