Nursing licensure and jobs in FL

Published

Hello all! I am new graduate nurse planning on relocating from Maryland to Florida. There are absolutely no opportunities for me here in Maryland, so I am taking my chances in Florida. Has it been difficult for a new graduate nurse to find employment in florida? Also, can anyone guide me in the right direction in taking Florida state boards (NCLEX)? Where do I start? What do I need? Any advice will be greatly appreciated :)

Hey Ebank welcome to Brevard! Hope your studying for that NCLEX! I moved to Cape Canaveral in January. I got my license endorsed by Florida from California and got my card in June! Im still trying to find a job around here but no one is hiring LPNs without experience (they want 6months to a year).. super fustrating! But ive been volunteering at the Cape hospital and work for Health First Private Duty as a HHA, (its per diem and ive only worked 3 shifts), but yeah even they only hire LPNs with LPN experience.. Ive applied at Long term facilities and hospitals. Try applying for Mollen Immunization Clinics.. The work season for flu shots doesnt start until Sep, but thats coming up soon and youll have your license! Good luck! And if you have an job suggestions share them please!!!!

hi ebank831! How is your job hunting going so far? Have you had any job offers after taking the NCLEX? I finally registered for mine and I test in 2 weeks. I am still applying for jobs but have not been offered an interviews yet....maybe its b/c I have an associates degree....but I'll keep trying!
