I am a nurse in New Zealand and have recently applied for my nursing registration in British Columbia as I am wanting to work in Vancouver. I have since heard that it is very hard to get work in Canada and that they only employ there own local nurses and the only work international nurses can get is temping/agency work. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about this as if this is the case I will not head to Canada and will stay here in my current job or go to Australia.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

It is true that there really is no shortage of nurses here. Most Provinces prefer to hire locally, and all the major cities already have many Canadian applicants. If I were you, I would try Australia before moving here.
Thank you for that. Yes I do not want to waste time getting visas and flying all the way over there to find I do not have a job.
