Nursing Jobs in Georgia

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hi! I will graduate on April 30th with my BSN. How soon can I start applying for jobs? I know this has been discussed a lot, but I want to know how is the job market in Georgia (I live in Georgia). Thank you!

I wish someone would have told me to start applying while I was in nursing school. I thought I had to have my license first, but that is not true. You should start looking at the hospital websites you would like to work at in order to figure out when the next set of new grad residency positions are offered. Also try and figure out when you are going to take your NCLEX because that will dictate when you can start working. If you plan on taking the NCLEX as soon as possible like May or June you would be able to apply for new grad positions that start after your license would be posted. For instance Emory just opened their new grad residency for March 2016. This means that they give 6 months for the application process. You will miss this round, but keep an eye out for others. Start working on your resume and coverletter now, as these are very important to get your foot in the door! Hope this helps.

Applications typically open in Jan or Feb for the residencies for spring grads. They usually fill the positions by April, so do not wait for graduation to apply.
