  1. Hi! Do you think that an MSN in Care Coordination or Case Management could help a new nurse (1 year of M/S experience) to overcome the lack of experience? Or do you think it's a waste of time/money? Thanks for the feedback!
  2. Hi! Do any of you have a masters degree in case management? I'm a new nurse, I am interested in getting my specialization in case management in the future, but it looks like an MSN is not really necessary to find a job as case manager. Any suggestions? Thanks
  3. I'm a little confused here...are a registered nurse already? You need to get an associates or a bachelor's degree in nursing+ RN license before you can apply to an FNP program.
  4. Hi all! I have been doing a lot research lately about the right path to become an Acute Care NP. Emergency nursing is my passion, and I want to be an APRN who can still work in the ED. I will be graduating with my BSN this summer. I don't have RN experience, only tech experience. Most of the online graduate programs require 1-2 years of RN experience, and the ones that don't are already taking applications for 2017. I can't apply this year because I won't have my RN license until May or June of this year. I don't want to wait 1-2 years to start graduate school. So my dilemma is: 1) wait 1-2 years and apply for an MSN with ACNP specialization program, or 2) start this year an MSN in Nursing management or education program online and then get a Post-grad cert in acute care NP. I think with the last option I will save myself some time instead of waiting the time required to get into an MSN in ACNP program. Does this make any sense? any suggestions?
  5. Are there any online graduate schools that provide assistance with clinical placement? It looks like with most of the schools you have to find your own clinical site. Thank you
  6. There are some positions vacant now in Northeast Georgia Medical Center for CNS in neuro/ortho, peds and psych.
  7. Thank you all!
  8. I have read a lot about the CNS role being phased out. However, I have been looking at jobs here in Georgia for CNSs and NPs, and I find interesting that there are more jobs available for CNSs than for NPs. I really like the idea of becoming a CNS (I am not interested in having prescriptive powers), but I am scared about what could happen by the time I finish my masters. I am also scared about the liability that comes with the NP role. Another option would be to get my masters in education and then a post grad certificate as FNP. I am confused. I want to continue advancing in my career, a flexible schedule (M-F, 8-5), and the ability to practice bedside nursing (which I love). I plan to start my masters degree in fall 2016 or spring 2017. Any thoughts?
  9. Do GSW require one full year of experience as an RN?
  10. Unfortunately, this is very common. Something similar happens where I study. I know how you feel. It's frustrating. My advice is: focus on the goal, which is to become a nurse. Once you're done with school, you don't have to look back. Learn from this experience. If you ever become an educator or manager you can make a difference. You know how not to treat people. It's sad that in nursing they try to teach us to be compassionate with people, but sometimes we are not that way among us. Don't get discouraged!
  11. I noticed that many of you are relocating. Did you take your NCLEX in the state were you got your nursing degree, or did you take it FL? Thanks
  12. Hi! I will graduate on April 30th with my BSN. How soon can I start applying for jobs? I know this has been discussed a lot, but I want to know how is the job market in Georgia (I live in Georgia). Thank you!
  13. Good afternoon, I will graduate with my BSN in May, but I'm already thinking about going to NP school. I would like to know what is the difference between master's degree and the NP certification as far as scope of practice and salary. Thank you
