Nursing In Riyadh

Published

Dear All,

I am an experienced head nurse in cardiothoracic surgical nursing and am considering going to Riyadh. Before I approach a hospital/agency, can anyone advise what sort of salary I may be able to achieve. I currently work in London. What challenges do you think I will encounter?

Many thanks

Greetings from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia,

I am an American, Director of Nursing in a substance abuse.psychiatric facility, not my previous work, but here I am for the past 12 years and that's another story.

If your interested in Riyadh, King Fahad Specialist hospital is considered top. There is also Prince Sultan cardiac center (if I'm not mistaken), and the national guard hospital.

I'm not sure of how much disparity there is b/tween north american and british nurses salaries. I think there is some.

In the specialist hospital you may be looking at mid to upper teens (i.e. Saudi Riyals). A friend of mine from the states as well just left King Fahad specialist and told me salaries for north american critical care nurse was raised to 18,500Sr/month and with OT, easily hit low 20'sw. Sign on bonuses are being offered on medhunters. Recruitment is getting very tough here, like elsewhere.

Riyadh is a sprawling, horrible to drive in city. Personally, i hate driving there. Dammam is only 4 hours by car.

Anyway, there are several health care systems here. Check medhunters.com if you haven't already.

Any other info., let me know.

cheers

Saifudin,

You've made my day by responding - thank you. Yes, I will have a look at medhunters. I have lots of questions but will organise them just so I dont drive you crazy.

Many thanks
