When Student Nurse becomes the PT

Nurses Humor

I thought that nothing phased me (especially after seeing a nephrectomy complete with squirming intestines during my OR Rotation in Feb.) anymore when it came to blood guts and gore.

After a day of ENT surguries during my ambulatory surgery externship this past week, I went to have a Fibroma that I have been picking at out of nervousness removed from my arm. Figured I have no problem watching this minor surgical procedure on my arm.

WRONG...

The second my doctor starts to make the cut into my anestised right arm, I pass out. Go figure.

Passed out....huh.:chuckle I don't know why, but it always seems that we could watch mutilation happen to anyone else but ourselves.

You're absolutely right about that. This was actually the first time that I was able to watch the doctor remove something from me. All the other times, they have been on my back and such.

But I can laugh at the fact I passed out. But some of my friends are not letting me live it down.
