Nursing and Home Life

Published

Hi! I have worked as a CNA in LTC and med-surg for about 3 years. I will be graduating and taking my boards to become an RN in less than a year.

My husband and I have been waiting for me to finish school before having kids - and it's getting difficult to keep waiting! When I am a mother and a nurse, my husband and I have agreed to not put our kids into daycare. His schedule can be very unpredictable, so we know it will be nearly impossible for me to work full-time right out of school. The extra income isn't really necessary, and I want to focus on raising my kids as much as possible while still being able to use my license.

Was anyone here hired PRN right out of school?

New graduate PRN jobs are unusual, but not unheard of. Why not look for a full time job to start out with, though? Babies don't always come when you expect them to. I had mine about seven years after I "decided" to.

I definitely am going to if nothing has changed by then. Just like to be prepared though!
