Hi-- I wonder if folks here could give me some suggestions for what field I might want to end up in when I graduate a year from now. I'll have an associate's RN, and FWIW I've had 28 years in the health care field as a podiatrist (long story, but basically, I think it's time for a change!).
At 57 when I graduate, I'm not looking for a really high stress field. I LOVE relating to patients and their families, so I don't want a field where most of my patient's are unconscious eg severe neuro trauma. At my age, I most likely won't want to bother with going on for a BS (although since I already have a BS in Biology it might not be that tough).
Any and all suggestions welcomed. I've given some thought to Psych and Hospice nursing. Thanks.
I would never recommend one area of nursing over another to someone else. That is an individualized decision. As for stress levels, while some areas are higher stress than others, I don't think any area is low stress. Psych and Hospice have their own stressors that other areas don't.
