Hello Everyone,
What have yall heard about a new nursing education program called ND? It is supposedly very different from the existing DNS/DSN/DNSc and education EdD. It has clinical practice as its goal, but there is not a unified curriculum for it yet.
Do you think think that in the future if a nurse were to obtain an ND, they would be treated with greater parity by MDs, PhDs, DDS's, ect?
I think that this could be a solution to shortages in the nursing and other health proffesions. As more and more doctors are preffering to specialize, there is a huge deficit for primary care providers, and as an ND the nurse would be a fully accountable primary care providers. It is a very exciting idea that nurses would finally be independant practitioners. I think that if this became a trend, then respect for the nursing profession would naturally increase.
What do you guys think?
