Nurses are always responsible for cleaning up. I'm not being snide, but what do you propose?
Nurses are just cleaning up their patient's mess.. They do not go out in the open to clean the decaying system. Nurses are regarded as angelic beings, incapable of stirring up disorder or challenging tradition. Why can't we unite and think of approaches in fixing up the defective ways? We can't live on our own forever, we need each others help.

Thanks! I agree! Actually, though, I meant nurses are always responsible for cleaning up in a much wider sense. And I guess I was thinking of it in a negative sense, as in trying to work with and make the best of decisions made FOR us. For instance , accepting sub-par staffing ratios and working constantly at a disadvantage because that's supposed to be the"norm" and today's reality. Anyway, have you gone onto the threads under the 'Nurses" tab: Nsg. Activism + Healthcare Politics? LOTS of ideas there. And there were a bunch of us writing letters to everyone (!) in Washington about what's really going on in nursing these days. I believe it is addressed under that tab somewhere amongst those threads Unfortunately I am tired and fuzzy-brained right now and need to hit the sack. I'll see if I can find that discussion tomorrow and let you know the title, in case you would be interested in it. Didn't seem to "catch on" with as many as I hoped it would, but the ones there seem determined to get the word out.
