Nursing or Clinical Nutrition

Published

I am battling with trying to decide if I want to go for the clinical Nutrition career or Nursing. I called UMSl and found out the Nursing program in over $35,000 and I called UM-Columbia and you can become a registered dietitian for $9,000 a year. I love food and Nutrition and I was hoping to be able to somehow blend the two. but now Im at a cross roads. I have kids need to take care of my family but the grueling hours 12 hr. shifts. the low pay $15.00 a hour for ASN. I cannot see the difference. I keep hearing Nurses get paid so much more but I keep hearing otherwise. I love nursing and I respect the profession so much but I also love nutrition. can anyone offer advice onthe pros and cons of both? My friend Nikki is a Clinical Dietitian and she seems to have great hours and good pay and a less stress... HELP!

Specializes in tele, oncology.

Obviously you live somewhere near me....

RN starting pay is more than $15/hr in St. Louis (at hospitals at least)...my facility starts new grads out at close to $19/hr with sign on bonuses. Have you checked out the community colleges for the cost of the ADN's there?

I don't have any personal knowledge of dieticians, so I can't help you out there.
