Nursing Assistant Question

Im asking a question that help would greatly be appreciated on... right now i live in nj and im on unemployment, i went to my local unemployment center and found out some information about the work force tution act thing that they offer.. they are willing to pay for up to 4000 of me going to school.. i would really love to work as a nursing assistant in a hospital setting but i dont want to pick the wrong schooling program.. can anyone recomend where i should start? is there a certain program i should be looking for? can anyone recomend any programs?

You may be better off checking with the unemployment office because they have to approve the program. Not sure what part of NJ you are in, but try Ace Healthcare Training Institute. They have a location in Dover and Union. I'm sure they are on the LWD's list of approved programs. But check with unemployment anyway, they can give you better information to suit your situation.

thanks i did check and they gave me a list but im wondering what is better if i chose to work in a hospital just cna or should i go with patient care tech

It may be difficult to find a job in a hospital since they require you to have 6+months of experience for a CNA. Most likely, you can quickly find a job in nursing home or some type of long-term care facility. Patient care tech will give you a wider skill set. I think you learn phlebotomy and EKG which would be a big plus for the hospital setting. Either one would be give you an advantage should you decide to further your career in nursing. Best of luck in your decision and job search. It is really tough out there.

Patient Care Tech without a doubt. You'll learn so much more, work in a hosp, and have far better working conditions.
