Nurses at Eden Medical Center in Northern California have reached a tentative agreement with their employer, averting a threatened strike at the facility.

San Jose Mercury News, July 31, 2002

"As part of the settlement, the nurses will receive an 18 percent wage increase during the next three years, setting the salary range for a full-time nurse at $75,000 to $93,000 a year.

The new contract also includes improvements in staffing and health care benefits, some of the main points of contention. Nurses who are at least 55 years of age with more than 10 years of experience will receive employer-subsidized post-retirement health care coverage based on years of service."
