Nurses working in outpatient surgical services

Published

Specializes in Surgical Intensive Care.

Hello all,

I am transitioning my career from a highly demanding, high acuity, and very busy (this being an understatement) Medical Surgical and Telemetry unit, at a very large hospital, to outpatient general surgery and surgical oncology, at an even larger hospital.

I would appreciate any advice, input, expectations, or experiences from nurses who work in similar positions. Or those who have input on such a transition.

Thank you, in advance, for your input.

What exactly is it that you'll be doing? Surgical services is very broad - pre-op, intraop, post-op. Each has it's own list of things you'll be responsible for.

Specializes in Surgical Intensive Care.

The position is for ambulatory general surgical services and surgical oncology.
