Hi
I was born & raised in Chicago;I am 62 years old & have been an RN for 41 years.
I went to school at an old Diploma School. It was a 3 year program--we went to school for 36 full months.
I work in a Large City Hospital that is a Level One Trama Center.
Presently, I am certified in Oncology Nursing; I work on a floor with Medical/Surgical Patients as well as Cancer/Hematology patients; I have worked the night shift for about 30 years.
I have had a varied career. I was Nurse Manager for a time; I have worked in Psychiatry, OB-Gyne, Peds, Rehab and Home Health.
I worked Home Health for 10 years during the day whilke I was working the Night shift at the Hospital; about 2 years ago I felt I needed to cut down to just the night job.
I LOVE nursing; I would do it again in a Heart Beat; I do not always like all the paperwork involved--but it has to be done.
I prefer just being with the patients!
I am looking forward to retirement in a couple of years. When that happens, I would like to volunteer my time in a Hospice.
I hope this is what you were looking for
