Hi - my info is a little dated as I have been back in Australia for quite a few years. When I was in NZ (95,96) the pay was very similar to Australian nurses. scales are based on experience - calculated by number of hours = yearly increases in pay - up to a senior level (8 yrs) in Australia we have just had approved payment for further training in specialties (post grad cert/dip etc in specialty areas) - I am not sure is NZ has followed suit. In Australia a senior nurse salary tops out at around 55,000 (plus penalties etc). I would guess that NZ is still similar to that.
Cheers,
Peter

Dear All
,
Considering going to work in either australia or new zealand. I was wondering what the pay scales are for nurses in new zealand.
Is it based on experience or years service?
Some background if this will help are that i am a dual qualified Learning disability nurse since 1990 and paediatric nurse since 2000. Does anyone Know how much or what range i could expect to earn.I understand the nurses organisation has recently agreed a new pay structure with the 21 health district employers.
Thank you for any help.
