British trained Paediatric Nurse. Can I work in the USA??
Was wondering if anyone can help. I am a british trained Paediatric Nurse (RN Child part 15 NMC) and while reading through the International section of the RCN jobs bulletin, i see that an advert for OGrady Penton says that we are now eligible for greencard processing. Is this true? or am i seeing things! Always understood it to be only general trained nurses that could apply? Can anyone else shed some light on this??? Regards Ewol.

Nurses pensions in Australia (NSW)
Thanks for your reply. Is the FSS a defined benefit fund? or do you just save with them and then you have to buy a retirement pension with whatever you have saved? As you can probably tell this is very new to nurses from England as our system is a defined benefit scheme, so we Know at a very early stage what our pension will be.It just depends on how much you can pay in and length of service within the NHS. Thank you for your help. regards ewol

Nurses pensions in Australia (NSW)
Thank you for your kind help. After some reading however, it has gave me more questions than answers!?! I was wondering if amyone could tell me what Superannuation scheme nurses in NSW are in? Or are they all in different ones depending who they are employed by? After reading the Public Sector Superannuation Scheme, this being a defined benefit scheme. Appears more like our NHS Pension scheme operated in the UK. I also read that employees can choose which scheme they can enter. Does this include nurses and can they join the PSS Scheme? I would be most gratefully for anymore help on this matter. Regards ewol.

Nurses pensions in Australia (NSW)
Dear All, Looking into working in NSW and at present about to start the process of the skills assessment process. However have been trying to find information on Pensions for Nurses in NSW. Does anyone know if I am right in thinking that like the NHS in england, nurses pay into a state/government pension scheme. If it is can anybody tell me what are the benefits like? and how much per week/month do nurses pay into it.What type of percentage does the nurse pay and what percentage does the employer/state/government pay. Or is it a totally private pension system for each nurse to set up by themselves? If anyone has any internet sites that can explain the system to me, this would be great. Thanks for any help on this matter, Regards Ewol.

pension in new zealand
Dear All, I am trying to find out about nurses pensions in new zealand. I hopefull will be moving to new zealand in the next year or so, however one thing i have not thought about is pensions. Does the government have a pension system for nurses. In britian you contribute to the NHS Pension scheme which gives a generous return when retired.Usually about 40% i think of your salary with a certain % as a lump sum. You pay 6% each month of your salary and the government pays another 6% each month. What is the system in New Zealand? Is it public or private pension system? Any help much appreciated :) . Regards, Darrin.

nurses pay levels in new zealand
Dear All , Considering going to work in either australia or new zealand. I was wondering what the pay scales are for nurses in new zealand. Is it based on experience or years service? Some background if this will help are that i am a dual qualified Learning disability nurse since 1990 and paediatric nurse since 2000. Does anyone Know how much or what range i could expect to earn.I understand the nurses organisation has recently agreed a new pay structure with the 21 health district employers. Thank you for any help. ewol :)

New Guy here, I'm considering nursing as a profession
Well, Nathan. I suppose it is a question we all ask ourselves after a time in nursing. Would we recommend it to someone else? I can give you a view from england, by a scotsman with 14 years experience. I have managed to be there at the moment a life has been born into this sometimes crazy world. And, i have been there when i life has left. Both i feel privialege to have seen especially since i work in a paediatric setting. Nursing has allowed me to travel and see places i would never have seen and meet people i never would have met.Spent time in romania as a nurse some years ago working for various charities. However it also at times takes over your life as due to shift patterns you see less of friends and the stress if not careful can make you cynical. I guess when i look myself in the mirror i am glad to be doing what i do, but it does come at a personal cost. You just have to decide if you are willing to pay it. I hope it works out for you. ewol :)

learning disability nursing in New Zealand.
Dear All, Hello . I am a registered nurse in england wondering if New Zealand would be a good place to work.I am a dual registered nurse, Learning Disabilities and Child Branch/Paediatric Nurse. I was wondering if New Zealand has similar nursing qualifications especially in Learning Disabilities/Intellectual Disability. My own particular field is the provision of Respite care service for Children with Learning disabilities and complex medical/health care needs. Do these services exist in new zealand and if so what is the job situation like. Also is cost of renting houses/cost of living, expensive compared to salaries paid.Lots of questions and not many answers at the moment. So any help with the above is greatly appreciated :) . Regards, Darrin.
