In our unit, techs kind of operate as CNAs would, with the added skills of doing accuchecks and blood draws (they are phlebo certified, no line draws of course). Since you are a nursing student, you will probably be doing all that in addition to giving meds with supervision if your position allows for it. I'm not sure if you will buddy with an RN or be giving an assignment where you'll work with several RNs in one shift but either way you will learn a lot! Watch what they are doing and ask questions! Even if you can't be hands on in certain things, you can still observe and learn from it. Be prepared to be on your feet a lot and have tons to do!
Have fun!!

Hi everyone, I just got a job in the CCU as a nurse tech and I was wondering what you use your techs for as I know every unit runs a little differently. I'm a fourth quarter student and so exited to finally have the chance to practice my skills!
